Sonja (Lang) Johnson

Sonja Johnson, age 63, of Columbia, SC, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026, at her home.

Born August 25, 1962, in Wershcau, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Konrad Lang and Roswitha Ibel Callinan. Sonja was a United States Air Force veteran, having achieved the rank of Captain. She was a Registered Nurse and an avid quilter.

Survivors include her husband, Kevin L. Johnson; granddaughter, Kaleigha Wiggins; sisters, Rosey (and Randall) Vaught, Betsey (and Jesse) Goss, and Judy Byrd; and her beloved dogs, Ralph and Ted. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Vanessa Kaye Wiggins.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Liberty, KY. Military rites will be conducted by the Casey County Veterans Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be the Casey County Veterans Honor Guard.

Arrangements are under the direction of McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
