Shirley Jean Carman Hines, of Middleburg, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025, at Signature Health Care in Danville. She was 88.
Born on July 14, 1937, in Casey County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Arnold and Bonnie Thompson Carman. Shirley was a retired secretary for Middleburg Elementary School and a former secretary for McGregor Sporting Goods in Cincinnati, Ohio. She also taught in a one-room school house in Casey County. She served on the Casey County Ambulance Board for thirty-four years. Shirley attended Athens Church of Christ and earlier in life, she attended Corinth First Church of God. She was a lover of all animals, both domestic and wildlife.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Albert Thomas “Tom” Hines of Middleburg, who she wed on February 22, 1957; two sons, Jeff (and Judy) Hines of Nicholasville and Gregory Alan Hines of Lexington; one granddaughter, Julisa Hines; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Darius “Ted” Carman; and a sister, Barbara Carman Wilkinson.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Corinth First Church of God with Bro. Tim Carman officiating. Burial will follow in Corinth First Church of God Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Corinth First Church of God.
