Russell Howard Overstreet, of Danville, formerly of Liberty, KY, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. He was 91 years old.
Born on February 9, 1932, in Casey County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Roy Lee and Clyda Hatfield Overstreet. He was a retired railroad engineer and attended Westside Christian Church. He was a member of the Craftsman Masonic Lodge #722 and a member of Shriner’s.
Russell is survived by his wife, Marguerite Murphy Cummins Overstreet; his daughter, Patricia (Mark) Davis; sisters, Geneva Hagy and Electa Bingham; three granddaughters, Bridget (Jim) Ward, Amie (Frank) Gardner, and Erica Skiles; step-daughters, Carla ( Larry) Simpson and Trena (the late Vernon) Rogers; step-grandchildren, Matt (Meagan) Simpson and Megan Simpson; eight great-grandchildren, Dylan, Mallory, Karli Joe, Kiera, Mackenzie, Addyson, Briella, and Frankie; step-great-grandchildren, Julie and Harper; several great-great-grandchildren; and mother-in-law, Millie Murphy.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Betty “Boo” Overstreet; his son, Russell Dale Overstreet; two brothers, Raymond Overstreet and Edgar Overstreet; and four sisters, Nellie Emerson, Montie Tarter, Ethel Johnson, and Ruth Anderson.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, with Bro. Marty Shackleford officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2023, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with a Masonic service at 7:00 P.M.
