Rosia Pennington Obituary

Rosia M. Pennington, of Liberty, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2020, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. She was 78.

Born on September 27, 1941, in Leslie County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Jim and Offie Smith Baker. Rosia was of the Church of God faith. She was baptized in Cutshin, Kentucky, at a young age. She enjoyed crafting, gardening, antiques, and flowers. She was an Indian artifact collector and an avid reader. Most importantly, Rosia was a loving grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Elhanan “Sarge” Pennington of Liberty; two sons, Aubrey (Kathy) Pennington and Stephen (Kim) Pennington, both of Liberty; a daughter, Sharron (Tony) Wilham of Liberty; two estranged daughters, Marcie (Mike) Jones and Debbie (Harvey) Franklin; eleven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Other survivors include four brothers, Warnie (Robin) Baker, Bobby (Sue) Baker, Colston Baker, and Don (Rochelle) Baker, all of Cutshin; and five sisters, Norma (Vernon) Gordon of Georgia, Dorsie (Kenton) Caudill of Cutshin, Joy (Eugene) Gross of Cutshin, Nadine Baker of Cutshin, and Goldie (Alonzo) Shepherd of Leatherwood.

In addition to her parents, Rosia is preceded in death by three brothers, Aubrey Baker, James Baker, and Earl Baker; and a sister, Marcelle Morgan.

The funeral service for Mrs. Rosia Pennington will be private for family only with Jessie Riley and Brother Casey Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Mill Springs National Cemetery.

Rosia’s funeral service will be live streamed on McKinney-Brown Funeral Home’s Facebook page at 11:30 A.M. on Wednesday, June 17, 2020.

The committal service and burial will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at Mill Springs National Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to attend the committal at Mill Springs. Social distancing guidelines must be followed, and facial masks/coverings MUST be worn by everyone in attendance.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. Please enter through the front doors (Campbellsville Street side) of the funeral home when you arrive for visitation. Social distancing guidelines must be followed by everyone in attendance. 

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society at P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Pennington, Alex Wilham, Adam Scott, Daniel Masters, Tony Wilham, and Danny Masters. Zachary Pennington will be an honorary pallbearer.
