Rose Peyton, of Liberty, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Liberty Care & Rehab Center. She was 83.
She was born on August 26, 1941, in Casey County, KY to the late James Emmett and Bertha Frances Long Tapscott.
Rose was a homemaker and a farm girl. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. Rose was a very strong woman, in her beliefs and always helping to empower other women. She loved her flowers, gardening and made the greatest fried apple pies ever. In fact, she would sell her apple pies and over time helped pave the lot at her church. Rose helped build her church, Noel’s Chapel Church of God and helped to build up her community. She had a level of endurance that was phenomenal, and it showed as she took care of her home, while taking care of her husband, James, as he recovered from heart surgery, not to mention everything else in life. She loved to sew for her family and helped with sewing bandages for others, years ago, that suffered from leprosy in other countries. Rose loved her family and loved helping other people, near and far.
She is survived by two daughters, Anita Bryant of Danville and Carol Bryant of Glendale, AZ; three brothers, Oval Tapscott of Campbellsville, Shirley Tapscott of Liberty and Ronnie Tapscott of Liberty; four grandchildren, Chris Bryant, Ami Michelle Reidford (and Keith), Justin Bryant and Kelsie Sallee (and Joseph); and six great-grandchildren, Faith Wethington (and Matthew), Lilly Bryant, River Reidford, Leland Sallee, Somer Sallee and Jaxson Sallee.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Peyton, Jr.; her son, David J. Peyton; and three brothers, Jimmy & Otis Tapscott and Howard Long.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Noel’s Chapel Church of God with Bro. Dwight Coffman officiating. Burial will follow in Noel’s Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00PM to 8:00PM on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home and 9:00AM to 11:00AM on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Noel’s Chapel.
