Peggy Long, of Liberty, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026, at her home. She was 65.
Born on September 28, 1960, in Franklin, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Lewis Howard and Alois Shreve Johnson. Peggy was a homemaker. She was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. She loved gardening, canning, reading her Bible, and caring for her rose bushes. Above all, Peggy loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Amy Beth (and Otniel) Mina of Liberty; her granddaughter, Kamilia Mina of Liberty; and two sisters, Judy Summerville of Adair County and Vicky Price of Liberty.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, David “Doc” Long, who passed away on November 22, 2013; a sister, Debbie Benedict; three brothers, Larry Johnson, Rick Johnson, and Tim Johnson; and two infant brothers.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Donovan Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Justin Benedict, Logan Benedict, Evan Benedict, Bo Benedict, Troy David Scott, and Josh Edwards.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to McKinney-Brown Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
