Otha Byrd, of Liberty, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022, at Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center. He was 89.
Born on February 15, 1932, in Casey County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Marion and Myrtie McDonald Byrd. Otha was a farmer and was employed by Tarter Industries for many years. He attended Walnut Hill Separate Baptist Church. He enjoyed mowing the lawn, gardening, canning food, and loved to help others.
He is survived by two daughters, Vickie (Marty) Stone of Pekin, IN and Nedra (Eddie) Francis of Russell Springs; five sons, Larry (Tracy) Byrd of Milltown, IN, Garry Byrd of Ramsey, IN, Charles (Mary) Byrd of Frankfort, KY, Jerry Overstreet of Hardinsburg, IN, and Joseph (Carmela) Overstreet of Ramsey, IN; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Other survivors include seven sisters, Rosie Lampton, Sara Deal, Shirley Fritsch, Arlie Cundiff, Betty Abney, Ruth Rosenberger, and Mary Alice Stephens; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Cole Byrd, who passed away on April 29, 2000; a daughter, Dorothy Byrd; a brother, Sherman Byrd; and three sisters, Ruby Overstreet, Lucy Brown, and Anna Flennor.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Hershel Lawhorn officiating. Burial will follow in South Fork Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to McKinney-Brown Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Daniel, Garry Byrd, Jr., Cody Byrd, Israel Byrd, Bradley Spurgeon, and John Austin.
