Mary Mills, of Liberty, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville. She was 73.
Born on October 12, 1949, in Liberty, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Lee Otis Sr. and Nettie Knight McQueary.
Mary loved her grandchildren, entertaining friends and family, cooking, gardening, her flowers, a good book, watching The Waltons, shopping for her grandchildren, and going out for a ride with Billy.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory her husband, John “Billy” Mills of Liberty, who she wed on October 9, 1982; a daughter, Brittany (Casey) Weddle of Liberty; her grandchildren who referred to her as “Granny”: Addalie Weddle, Emmalie Weddle, and Weston Weddle; a brother, Leon (Pam) McQueary of Liberty; two sisters, Wanda Wilham of Danville and Joann Rodgers of Liberty; and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Peavley and Sherri Eads; and six brothers, Junior McQueary, Farley McQueary, Marvin McQueary, Paul McQueary, James McQueary, and Clifton “Buddy” McQueary.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Maupin officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, September 29, 2023, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Greg McQueary, Michael Paul McQueary, Adam Davis, Darrell McQueary, Mike McQueary, and Roger McQueary.
Honorary pallbearers will be Casey Weddle, Brandon Wilson, Jeff McQueary, Randall McQueary, and Danny McQueary.
