Martha Jane Houston Lay, of Liberty, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Casey County Hospital. She was 81.
Born on June 1, 1940, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Clifford Sam and Mary Ann Friday Houston. Martha was a member of Carr’s Chapel First Church of God. She enjoyed reading her bible, crocheting, and loved her dog, Tootsie.
She is survived by her husband whom she married April 27, 1968, Kenneth Lay of Liberty; three sons, Timothy Earl Lay of Danville, Troy Eugene (Katie) Lay of Harrodsburg, and Tony (Karen) Lay of Hustonville; seven grandchildren, Jeremy, Ryan, Daniel, Christopher, Megan, Josh, and Andy; two great-grandchildren; and a twin sister, Mary Souders of Cincinnati, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Houston; and two brothers, Clifford Paul Houston and Arthur Houston.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, April 25, 2022, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Doug Roberts and Bro. Richard Lehman officiating. Burial will follow in Caney Fork Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
