Mark Paus

Mark Paus, of Liberty, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Casey County Hospital. He was 72.

Born on February 3, 1954, in Niagara Falls, New York, he was a son of the late Jack and Laila Paus. Mark grew up moving every few years with his family, living in several different states, and spent three years in Geneva, Switzerland, where he loved to go skiing. He graduated from Fairview High School in 1972, then went to Kent State University for several years.

Mark formerly worked for the City Parks Department in Norwalk, Connecticut, for many years, holding numerous job titles. He was also an arborist. Fishing and gardening were two things that Mark enjoyed most. He was truly the most kind and generous soul. One of his favorite pastimes was riding his motorcycle with a group of friends. Prior to living in Liberty, Kentucky, Mark spent years living and helping care for his parents on Bainbridge Island, Washington, where he was greatly loved in the community.

Mark was also a member of Valley Oak Baptist Church in Liberty, Kentucky.

He is survived by two sisters, Lisa Rose of Bainbridge Island, Washington and Linda Floyd of Fort Collins, Colorado; a brother, Mike Paus of Issaquah, Washington; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Patty Hamilton and Robert Homiak of Liberty.
