Mable (Walls) Raines

Mable Walls Raines, of Liberty, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Casey County Hospital. She was 79.

Born March 17, 1943, in Casey Co., KY, she was a daughter of the late Britton and Vester Streeval Walls. Mable was a member of the Poplar Grove Baptist Church. She was a former LPN for Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Mable loved nursing and was “Nurse of the Year” on three different occasions. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and reading.

Survivors include her daughter, Charlotte “Patty” Raines of Liberty; sisters, Pauline Payton of Liberty, Neva (and Bobby) Randolph of Scottsburg, IN, Donna (and John) Wheeler of Gravel Switch, and Kathy (and Bob) Salyers of Frankfort; 8 grandchildren, Joey, Jared, Jennifer, Amy, Courtney, Caitlyn, Abby, and Daniel; and 10 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Sheperd, Major, Breaker, Jack, Chapel, Sydney, Navy, Molly, and Remi.

Mable was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard Lee Raines, who passed away on March 21, 1971; daughter, Rhonda Raines Barrett; brother, Leonard Walls; and sisters, Charlene Peek and Linda Wheeler.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Monday. August 22, 2022, at Poplar Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Brent Huggins officiating. Burial will follow in the Poplar Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-6PM and Monday from 9-11AM, both at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation on Monday from 12Noon until time of funeral at Poplar Grove Baptist Church.
