Lily Ann Porter

Lily Ann Porter, of Liberty, passed away November 5, 2025, at her home. She was 78 years old. She was born August 1, 1947, in Casey County, Kentucky to the late Ralph and Violet Thomas.

Lily was preceded in death by Larry Porter, her husband of 63 years. Together they had four children, Donna Porter, John Porter, Larry (Candy) Porter and Daniel Porter, all of Casey County. They had ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.  In addition to her children and grandchildren, Lily is survived by her brother, Archie Thomas.

In addition to her parents, Lily is preceded in death by her sister, Betty Augustine.

She loved taking care of people. Lily worked for Home Health for many years and was a member of The Church of Christ. She would go out of her way to help anyone in any way that she could. If someone needed food, she would come home to cook a meal and take it back to them. She would often call and check on her patients going out in the worst weather conditions when other people wouldn’t travel in them. She had a true love for all her patients. Lily later became a grandmother who loved all her grandchildren dearly. She would take all ten grandchildren on trips with her mother, Violet. Lily played every game to be thought of with the grandchildren. She spoiled them rotten and they were her pride and joy.

Lily loved her children dearly. She helped them up and beyond what a lot of mothers would do. Quoted by Lily’s children, “She was always there for us when we were sick or when we were well. We could call on her anytime night or day.”

Pallbearers will be Ashton Stull, Travis Buis, Skyler Porter, Landon Porter, Tanner Porter and Hunter Porter. Honorary pallbearer, Robert Augestine. 

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M.  Saturday, November 8, 2025, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Galloway officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Contown Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
