Kathryn Scott, of Hustonville in Casey County, passed away on August 26, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family. She was 89.
Mrs. Kathryn, as known by many, was born June 12, 1932, in Casey County, KY. She was a daughter of the late Milton Thomas Long and Nettie Bell Barlow Long. Kathryn was a longtime member of Brush Creek Pentecostal Church. She professed her faith in Christ at an early age. Kathryn loved her family, especially gathering everyone together for those Sunday dinners. She enjoyed working in her garden and her flowers. Kathryn was an avid UK fan. For many years, Kathryn made the “funeral cakes” for all the families served at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. She took great pride in baking the cakes and would pray for each family.
Survivors include her daughters, Sheila (and David) McKinney of Hustonville, Wanda (and Ed) Parton of Liberty, Ricky (and Gary) Whitis of Hustonville, Vicky (and Doug) Hicks of Hustonville, and Susan Douglas (and Matt Hadley) of Frankfort; son, Troy Scott (and Tina Loyall) of Hustonville; sisters, Faye Murphy of Illinois and Barbara Hayes of Liberty; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Barbara Scott and Peggy Evans, both of Liberty; and son-in-law, Lewis Allen of Liberty.
Mrs. Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, William Shelby Scott; daughter, Judy Allen; sons, Gale Scott and Timothy Scott; 1 grandchild; 1 great-grandchild; and a host of siblings also precede her in death.
Funeral services will be at 2:00PM Monday, August 30, 2021, at Brush Creek Pentecostal Church with Bro. Scott Cochran and Bro. Bearl King officiating. Burial will follow in the Whited Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9PM on Sunday at the Church.
The family requests that all in attendance please wear a face covering.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
