John William Mason

John William Mason, of Edinburgh, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at IU Health Methodist Hospital. He was 66.

Born on March 15, 1959, in Casey County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Howard and Evelyn Poff Mason. John formerly worked at Webb’s Veneer Factory for forty years. He was a hard-working man that enjoyed fishing, old cars, and Harley Davidsons. Most of all, John loved his family.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Hogue Mason, who he wed on September 24, 1998; three sons, John William Mason II of Arlington, Texas, Kameron John Mason of Edinburgh, Indiana, and Justin (Natalie) Hogue of Greenwood, Indiana; two daughters, Mary Helen Mason of Knox, Indiana and Heather Black of Bradenton, Florida; five grandchildren, Jasmine Abigail Mason, John Presley Mason, Alec Echevarria, Justin Hogue II, and Tyler Hogue; two brothers, Larry Mason of Liberty and Dave Mason of Edinburgh, Indiana; and three sisters, Liz Jones of Liberty, Lorraine Hafley of Nicholasville, and Linda (Russell) League of Liberty.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, J.C. Mason, Glen Mason, George Mason, and Lewis Mason; and a sister, Elaine Harris.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Mason Cemetery with Bro. Duane Permenter officiating.
