While he preached at many churches, mostly in Lincoln and Casey counties, he spent most of his years pastoring Middleburg Baptist Church. He was the pastor there from 1967 to 1997. When he retired from the pastorate, he did not retire from the ministry. He served as interim for five churches, preached at several revivals, and filled in for other preachers.

Other survivors include two great-grandchildren, Victoria Carpenter of Lexington and Gabriella Nall of Fayetteville, North Carolina.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters; four brothers; two half-sisters; and a half-brother.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at Middleburg Baptist Church with Bro. Vincent Carman officiating. Burial will follow in Middleburg Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home and from 9:30 A.M. until time for services on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at Middleburg Baptist Church.
