John Allen Porter Obituary

John Allen Porter, of Liberty, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2026. He was 58.

Born on May 12, 1968, in Danville, Kentucky he was a son of the late Larry Porter and Lily Thomas Porter. He was a former timber cutter. John was the kind of man who lived life full throttle. He loved the simple things in life the most. John enjoyed riding horses down back roads, kicking up mud in his truck, sitting around campfires with family and friends and spending long nights coon-hunting under the stars. If there was a backroad, a muddy field or an open fire, chances are that’s where you would find John with a smile on his face. Above all else, he loved his family and friends deeply.

He is survived by three daughters, Brandy (and Tyler Haynes) Porter of Winchester, Whitney Porter of Lexington and Haylee of London; two brothers, Larry Wayne (and Candy) Porter of Liberty and Daniel Porter of Liberty; one sister, Donna Porter of Liberty; and a grandson, Abel Patterson.

Funeral services will be held Monday May 18, 2026, at 12:00 P.M. at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Yaden officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Contown Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Monday May 18, 2026, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
