Jimmy Ray Phelps, of Liberty, passed away on Tuesday, April 8,2025, in Somerset, KY. He was 61.
Born May 17, 1963, in Casey County, KY, he was a son of the late Delmer “Dee” Phelps and Chrstine Langford Phelps. Jimmy was a former truck driver for Cox Interiors and Wolford & Wethington. He enjoyed watching westerns on tv and cruising the bypass. Jimmy was an outgoing person.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy Lay Phelps; daughter, Kimberly (and Jimmy) McNear; stepson, Tyler Cain; sisters, Carol (and Johnny) Gooch and Charlene (and Harlan) Cross; grandsons, Adam and Jackson; step-grandchildren, Liam and Gracyn; and uncles, Lewell Langford and Shelby Phelps.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, William, Jackie, and Edward Phelps.
Funeral services will be at 1:00PM Monday, April 14, 2025, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Phillip Patton officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilson Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-8PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be William Phelps, Danny Tapscott, Bruce Poff, James Hayes, Cody Gooch, and Speck Dunn.
