James "J.C." Carman Obituary

James “J.C.” Carman, of Liberty, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, in Liberty. He was 74.

Born on February 20, 1949, in Casey County, KY, he was a son of Clement V. and Nora L. Campbell Carman. J.C. was a carpenter and farmer. He loved farming, going to auctions, hunting, and wagon rides. J.C. was a United States Navy Vietnam Veteran.  

He is survived by granddaughter, Cassidy Brooke (and Kyle) Kerney of Byrdstown, TN; grandson, Christian Helm of Russell County; great-granddaughter, Saylor Kerney; sister, Jody (and the late Ronnie) Salyers of Waynesburg; brother-in-law, Charles Ray Francher of Indianapolis, IN; lifelong best friend, Lewis Doss; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends also survive.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Lou (and Russell) Overstreet, Lettie Sue (and Corbett) Pittman, and Judy Carol Francher; and special friend, Betty Bray.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00PM EST on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Hogue officiating. Burial will follow in the Raney Cemetery with military honors by the Casey County Veterans Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 4-7PM EST on Saturday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Christian Helm, Jeff Salyers, Josh Salyers, Dennis Salyers, Kyle Kerney, and Cory Salyers. Honorary pallbearers will be Lewis Doss, Blake Radliff, Steven Pittman, and Chuck Francher.
