James Ellison Obituary

James David Ellison, of Stanford, died Thursday, December 9, 2024, at his home.  He was 59.

He was born January 11, 1965, in Lincoln County, KY to the late Arnold Dayton Leach and Odell Roberts Ellison.  James David was a roofer by trade, a mechanic and a wonderful handyman.  He was a Christian and a family man.  He loved his children and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.  James David was an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and especially rabbit hunting with his best buddy and brother-in-law, Herb Rayborn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Greyson Hayes; and his siblings, Billy Gene Ellison, Bobby Ellison, Tennie “Cub” Ellison, Roxie Houson, Patricia Ann Ellison, Betty Ellison and Lorene Ellison.

James David is survived by his life-long companion, Mona Lisa Pelley of Stanford; his sons, Anthony Wayne “T.J.” Hayes, Jr. and Joshua Blake (and Amber) Hayes, all of Liberty; his brothers, Steven Ellison, George Robert Ellison, Ray Ellison and Larry “Bootsie” Ellison; his sisters, Lisa Ann Snow, Alma Anderson, Louise (and Herb) Rayborn and Beulah Davis; his nine grandchildren, Anna Dakota Marx, “Charlie Boy” Grider, Anthony W. Hayes, III, Zakkary Hayes, Jostin Slone, Cordin Hayes, Katie Peavley, Curtis Peavley and Vanessa Barber; four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, December 14, 2024, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.  Bro. Ricky Hogue will officiate the services. Burial will follow in Whited Cemetery.  Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00AM until 1:00PM at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Hayes, T.J. Hayes, Jostin Slone, Zakk Hayes, Marshall Rayborn and Marvin Rayborn.  Charlie Grider, Anthony Wayne Hayes III, Anna Dakota Marx, Hunter Wellington and Jess Gadd will serve as the Honorary Pallbearers.

In memory of James David, donations may be made to McKinney-Brown Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses.
