James G. Bates

James G. Bates, of Dunnville, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Baptist Health in Lexington, Ky. He was 79.

He was born on September 20, 1945, in Casey County to the late Hillard and Carrie Caudill Bates. James was an auto technician at Harvey Ellis Motors in Columbia. After he retired, he enjoyed his hobby of farming. He loved to hunt and fish. His grandchildren were the joy of his life.

In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ellen Marie Davenport; four brothers and three sisters.

James is survived by his loving wife Gladys Bates of Dunnville, whom he wed May 9, 1975; his daughter, Beth Davenport (and Brandon) of Windsor; his grandchildren, Gabby Ellen and Bayler James Davenport; a brother and a sister.

Graveside services for Mr. James Bates will be private. Burial will take place in Birdie Russell Cemetery with Bro. Steve Janes officiating.
