Iva Dean Helm, of Liberty, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Liberty Care Center. She was 91.
She was born April 4, 1935, in Casey County to the late Andrew Claxton and Lena Allen Pennington. She was a former truck driver alongside her husband Glen, in addition to driving a truck, Iva helped Glen host many singings at the White House Chapel near their home. She enjoyed working in her flowers, cats and listening to gospel music.
She is survived by her sister, Brenda Goode (and Jay) of Liberty; a brother, Vernon Pennington (and Melody) of Clarksville, IN; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Iva is preceded in death by her husband, Glen Helm, who passed away in 2019; her brothers, Joe Pennington and Welby “W.C.” Pennington; and her sisters, Louvina Hamm, Opal Clements, Kathryn Wethington, Elizabeth Pennington and Eugenia Clements.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Ed Parton officiating. Burial will follow in Whited Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, and from 8:00 A.M. until time-of-service Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the funeral home.
