Gary Gibson

Gary Wayne Gibson, of Liberty, died Monday, May 11, 2026, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, while under hospice care for cancer. He was 76. He was the son of the late William Coy and Ollie Mae Gibson.

Gary was a diesel mechanic. He enjoyed working on vehicles and racing his Dodge truck.

Survivors include his daughter, Loni (and Josh) Knapp and grandson Hayden Knapp of Ohio; and three brothers, Onie Corbit (and Judy) Gibson, Danny (and Linda) Gibson and David (and Sue) Gibson, all of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Lonnie Gibson; two half-brothers, Jimmy Ray Sandusky and William Stafford; and five half-sisters, Rachel Estep, Norma Turner, Betty Buck, Barbara Derringer and Sylvia Prewitt. 

Private services at the convenience of the family will be held at a later date.
