Garland A. Davis

Garland A. Davis, of Liberty, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at his home. He was 80.

Born on August 28,1945 in Casey County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Johnny Alton “Josh” Davis and Adele Hamm Davis. Garland was a member of Green River Valley Separate Baptist Church for more than 55 years, serving as a Deacon, song leader, Sunday school teacher and taking great care of the church grounds and the cemetery. He was a barber for more than 20 years, a school bus driver for Casey County Schools for 10 years, and the owner of Double “N” Jewelry. Garland enjoyed attending car shows and loved old cars.

Garland is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Bell Davis, whom he wed on January 17, 1966; a son, Casey (and Christy) Davis; a daughter, Chatty (and Mark) Lee; five grandchildren, Vance (and Morgan) Davis, Madison (and Hunter) Cleary, Tanner (and Danielle) Davis, Brookley (and Tristan) Elmore, Laci (and Lucas) Salyers ; seven great-grandchildren Audrey Davis, Jack Davis, Juniper Davis, Elowyn Cleary, Riley Davis, Mason Davis and Malee Salyers; his brother, Randal (and the late, Sue) Davis ; his sister, Janice (and the late, Robert) Eads; a special sister in law/daughter, Nanette (and Keith) Wright; two special nephews/grandsons, Spencer (and Kelsey) Wright and Skyler (and Colyn) Wright; and special great nieces and nephews, Emma Lou, Maxwell and Calloway Wright.

In addition to his parents, Garland is preceded in death by a son, Roderick Davis.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Green River Valley Separate Baptist Church with his son, Bro. Casey Davis and Bro. Richard Irwin officiating. Burial will follow in Green River Valley Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home and 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Green River Valley Separate Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Spencer Wright, Vance Davis, Skyler Wright, Madison Cleary, Tanner Davis, Brookley Elmore and Laci Salyers.
