Franklin “Paul” Carter, of Liberty, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2020, at his home. He was 94.
Born on September 18, 1925, in Casey County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Henry Lee and Anna Mae Powers Carter. Paul was a United States Navy veteran. He was the current oldest member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. He was an avid UK fan and loved playing golf. He loved his family, his church, and his neighbors.
He is survived by two daughters, Rita (George) Lawhorn of Liberty and Paula (Danny) Minton of Carlisle; two sons, Michael (Lynn) Carter of Salisbury, NC and Philip Lee Carter of Georgetown; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson on the way.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jean Ward Carter; a daughter, Donna (Billy) Roe; two sisters, Carol Hatfield and Beulah Taylor; a grandchild, Carter Minton; and a great-grandchild, Jamie Kohn.
A private family funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, June 15, 2020, at St. Bernard Catholic Church with Father George Otuma officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.
