Farming Rural 04

Edward Noel

August 13, 1928 ~ September 7, 2022 (age 94)

Edward Noel, of Liberty, was born in Casey County on August 13, 1928, to the late Felbert Ray and Pearl Gabehart Noel. He passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at his home at the age of 94.

An honest, hardworking man who loved his family dearly, and truly enjoyed making people laugh. His life revolved around faith, family, and his beloved farm. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 61 years, Marie Randolph Noel, who preceded him in death in 2010, and was a cherished father to his children. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always made time to spend many happy hours with them.

He worked for many years as a finishing carpenter, a forklift driver, and a machine operator, but his true passion was farming and caring for livestock. With a strong work ethic, he took great pride in a job well done and providing for his family.

A very affectionate man who often picked wildflower bouquets as he returned from the field for supper, he put others ahead of himself, and was always grateful and thanked you for even the smallest things you did for him. You never left his home without a hug, a kiss and being told that he loved you.

He is survived by his daughters, Elaine (Mike) Marple and Linda Sallee; his grandchildren, Chad (Jennifer) Marple, Tara (Adam) Grigsby, and Caleb Sallee; his great-grandchildren, Jackson Marple, Victoria Marple, and Madison Grigsby; and his sister, Martha (Shearl) Murphy.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Marie Noel; his great-grandson, Grayson Kenneth Marple; six brothers, Charles, Samuel, Earl, Bennie, Walter, and Henry Noel; and six sisters, Mary Dean, Nellie Land, Mamie Jean Noel, Marie Thomas, Mable Schultz, and Ruth Murphy.

A special “thank you” to his caregivers Susan Giles and Lisa Wethington, and his wonderful neighbors, Abe and Julia Miller, and Thomas and Fanny Beachy.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, September 12, 2022, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Brother Marshall Malone officiating. Burial will follow in Casey County Memorial Gardens.
