David “DJ” Joseph Lewis Whitt, of Liberty, went missing on September 19, 2023. He was 20.
Born on June 6, 2003, in Danville, Kentucky, he was the son of Angel Nicole (and Michael Taylor) Parton of Liberty and Lewis Edward (and Kristi) Whitt of Liberty. DJ was a welder for Handi-Port. He was an outdoorsman that loved fishing, hunting, animals, music, and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Harley West; two brothers, Bryan West and Bradley Whitt; maternal grandparents, Regina (and Kenneth Patrick) Long and Kristee Parton, all of Liberty; paternal grandfather, Darrell Whitt of Waynesburg; stepsisters, Kaylee Ford and Kira Ford; and stepbrothers, Jakobe Ford and Zayden Taylor. Other survivors include a niece, Davina Jewell Parton; a special friend, Daulton and Wade Phillips; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and additional friends and family members.
DJ is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, David Parton; and paternal grandmother, Betty Whitt.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Creech Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Daulton Phillips, Allan Childress, Wade Phillips, Adam Durham, Aaron Durham, George Whitt, and Robert Whitt.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to McKinney-Brown Funeral Home to assist the family in offsetting funeral expenses.
