Darrel Cravens, of Liberty, departed this life to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, with his wife and children by his side, at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, KY at the age of 82.
He was born April 28, 1942, in the Argyle Community in Casey County, to the late Elbert and Mary Alice Gadberry Cravens.
Darrel was a farmer and retired from the Kentucky Department of Transportation, where he was a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Darrel loved his community and was a member of Valley Oak Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Terril and Gene Cravens; one sister-in-law, Mildred Cravens; and two brother-in-laws, Masel McKee and James Carr.
Darrel is survived by his loving wife, Linda Dick Cravens, of Liberty, whom he wed on September 8, 1967; two children, Susan Soule (and Richard) of Liberty and Joseph Cravens (and Suzanne) of Winchester; three grandchildren, Logan Soule (and Ashley), Jayden Soule and Ella Cravens; three great-grandchildren, Ivy, Huntlee and Callum Soule and a baby girl on the way; one brother, Harold Cravens; four sisters, Helen McKee, Izella McQueen, Marcella Carr and Patty Atwood (and Ronnie); and two sister-in-laws, Betty Jean Cravens and Connie Cravens.
Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Friday, January 3, 2025, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Chuck Woodcock officiating the services. Burial will follow in Valley Oak Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Friday, January 3, 2025, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Logan Soule, Jesse Cravens, Aaron Cravens, Richard Soule, Joey Cravens and Ella Cravens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Darrel’s memory to the Valley Oak Cemetery.
