Clyde Dwayne Clements Obituary

It is with brokenness and extreme heartache that the Clements’ family share the news that our Dwayne went home to be with his parents, his daughter and his great nephew on Tuesday April 1, 2025, at the UK Medical Center. He put up a fight that only a Clements can do. His family was his strongest advocate to the end. We are grateful to have been with him, holding his hand in his last moments.

Born the baby of the family, the youngest of five, on April 19, 1970, to Sylvester Clyde Clements and Marcella Long Clements. He was gifted with two brothers, Danny Ray (and Barb) Clements and Keith (and Tammy) Clements; and two sisters, Brenda (and Tom) Wethington and Patty Clements.

Clyde Dwayne Clements, of Alvaton, KY, enjoyed 54 years of hard work, mischief, goofiness and love. He built a beautiful home in Alvaton, KY for his wife, Andrea Leah Ellison Clements, of 26 years. Dwayne loved Andrea and his children in a special way. He always ensured their needs and wants were met before his.

Dwayne loved and loved big. If you were in his circle, you were of the elite, those that he would go to war for. He could be cantankerous and even be downright grouchy if he perceived someone he cared about wasn’t being treated the way he saw fit. He has been known to be on the school contact list for local neighbors, usually to take the blame for fun shenanigans he taught the kids. He invented kayak riding in the snow behind the dodge. Dwayne was the first phone call for a long list of people as they were for him in reciprocity.

Dwayne spent his young years of life as a “Tankie” for Caldwell Tanks where he held several crew positions including Foreman before dedicating his time to his children, Madeleine DeShea Brockman, Marcy Shelbie (and John) Lyons and Clyde Dwayne Jr. (and Emmy) Clements as well as McKenzi Atwood and Raven Clements.

While he was especially proud of the water towers he built across the United States, Canada, and including Disney World, his most proud achievements in life were his children and grandchildren. He was lovingly named “Pap Pap” to his three grandsons: Colton John Lyons, Clyde Briggs Clements and Rhett Hudson Lyons. He spent his most recent years enjoying time “hanging out”, as he called it, while running Pap’s Daycare. He rode the grands on the golf cart and taught them to laugh with a “knee slapper” and to say, “Pap says, duh huh, you know what I mean”. When he wasn’t “hanging out” with his kids or grandkids, he was chauffeuring his wife on the back of his Harley Davidson.

Dwayne was a member of the Hustonville Baptist Church as well as Hillvue Heights Church. He was a believer in Jesus Christ and spent his youth years as a youth and RA Leader where he focused on helping the kids learn the Bible, experience fun activities such as camping and grilling. He was a strong advocate and #1 volunteer for the Boy Scouts with little Clyde, where they won multiple Pinewood Derbies and camping challenges. Dwayne was a welder and member of NTL Boilermakers Local 40. He was dedicated to the Greenwood High School Football “Chain Gang” for years even after Little Clyde was out of high school. Lastly, he was the animal whisperer. He loved his German Shepherd Dixie and his chickens as much as his family.

We are sure that he was met by some of his most important people who went home before him: his parents, Clyde and Marcella; his father-in-law, Barry C. Ellison; a daughter, Madeleine DeShea Brockman and a great nephew, Austin Tyler Wethington. He loved and grieved all of them and we smile thinking of the joy they shared in their reunion.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday April 8, 2025, at 2:00PM CST at Hillvue Heights Church, 3219 Nashville Road, Bowling Green, KY 42101. Brother Jamie Ward, Brother Jonathan Grizzell and Brother Ronnie McKinney will officiate.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00AM to 2:00PM CST, at Hillvue Heights Church.

The family invites Dwayne’s friends and coworkers to share their best memory or story of Dwayne to help us build our memories.

Dwayne had many special friends in life. The following are asked to hold the privilege of carrying him to his resting place in Bowling Green Gardens Cemetery: Clyde Clements, Jr., John Lyons, Jayme Summers, Lonnie Lund, Steven Durham, Kyle Denton, Daniel Swarey, James Monroe, Shane Ellison and Barry Blue. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Ray Clements, Keith Clements, and Ronnie Marple.

His family wishes everyone to spend time with those that matter and forgive often. Laugh at and with each other. Bring back the family traditions. Keep your team close and hold onto each other. Life is too short.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: Dwayne Clements Memorial Scholarship fund for welding and skilled trades, c/o Casey County Bank, PO Box 10 Liberty, KY 42539 (606-787-8394) or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org/get-involved/ways-to-give/tribute-program.
