Charles Ray Durham Sr., of Yosemite, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Liberty Care Center. He was 88.
Born on September 4, 1937, in Yosemite, KY, he was the son of the late Raymond Durham and Corrine Enyard Durham. Charles formerly attended Green River Pentecostal Church and recently had attended Mt. Salem Baptist Church. He was always a hard worker. He worked for Fischel Phone Company for years and also many years of construction work. Charles loved taking care of and mowing his yard, setting out tomato plants, and took great pride in his home and yard work. Charles loved going to church, talking to people about The Lord, and visiting with friends. He loved his family, grandkids, and his two dogs, Georgie and Gomer. Charles will be greatly missed by family and his many friends.
Charles is survived by his children, Janet (Leon) Wesley of Liberty and Kathy (Ronald) Napier of Kings Mountain; four grandchildren, Darrin (Erica) Wesley of Liberty, Amanda Bullock of Kings Mountain, Amy (Brandon) Wood of Versailles and Cheyenne Durham of Hustonville; seven great-grandchildren, Laura Ann Wood, Michael Hamilton, Hannah Napier, Kelsey Publow, Isabella Strickland, Braxton Wethington, and Brayden (Johanna) Wethington; three great-great-grandchildren, Jason Buchanan, Easton Publow and Colsen Publow; and two sisters, Jean Hatter of Walltown and Lillie Mae Perry of Cincinnati.
In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy Murrell Smith Durham; a son, Charles Durham, Jr.; and a brother, William Denver Durham.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, December 1, 2025, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Kevin Pittman and Bro. Danny Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in Middleburg Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Monday, December 1, 2025, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Darrin Wesley, Ronald Napier, Leon Wesley, Terri Brown, Jerry Randolph and Anthony Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Byrd, Dr. Haddad, and all the nurses and staff at Liberty Care Center.
