Carolyn Kaye Evans Murphy, of Liberty, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. She was 70.
Born on January 17, 1956, in Casey County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Delmer L. Evans and Mary Spielburger Evans. Carolyn was a retired educator and specifically enjoyed her many years as a head start teacher. She was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by a son, Paul Brent (and Katie) Murphy of Harrodsburg; three sisters, Kernetta (and Greg) Evans of Dunnville, Karen Sue (and Steve) Lynch of Dunnville, and Sherry (and Barry) Mullins of Stanford; three grandchildren, Noah James Murphy, Elijah Brent Murphy, and Isaiah Everett Murphy; her fiancé, Creech Richardson of Liberty; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Doctor Joey “Doc” Murphy, who passed away on June 9, 2019; and a brother, Larry Evans.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Creech Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Murphy Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
