Carl “Red” Yates, of Kings Mountain, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at University of Kentucky Medical Center. He was 59.
He was born on July 26, 1965, in Liberty, KY to the late Kenneth and Deva Richardson Yates. Carl was a mechanic for many years. He also worked in logging and farming. One of his most favorite things to do was to go to the Goodwill store.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Bruce Yates and a special aunt, Cindy “Sam” Yates.
He is survived by his sons, Joe Yates (and Samantha) of Kings Mountain, Derick Yates (and Megan) of Berea and George Yates of Kings Mountain; his daughter, Barbara Yates (and Caitlynn) of Mintonville; his brother, Pete Yates of Kings Mountain; his sisters, Mary Ann Long of Elkorn and Jeannie Carman of Kings Mountain; and 11 grandchildren, Kyley, Noah, Braylin, Johnathon, Aiden, Lillian, Solomon, Dustin, Brooklynne, Asa and Maverick.
Funeral services will be 1:00PM Monday, January 20, 2025, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Maupin officiating. The burial will follow in Willow Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 4:00PM to 8:00PM Sunday, January 19, 2025, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
