Blonda Mae Sparr passed into the arms of Jesus on December 14, 2024, at the Casey County Hospital. She was 104 years old.
She was the first daughter and sixth child of Mark and Alice Daugherty born at home, on Johnson Creek, Roane County, West Virginia December 7, 1920. She married her late husband Harry M. Sparr on April 1, 1944, during WWII. She is a long-time member of Shady Grove Separate Baptist Church.
Casey County became her family home in the early 1960’s when they moved to the pumping station in Clementsville, Ky. She loved the Creston community, enjoying Tuesday morning breakfasts with her friends for many years. She generously shared her gifts - quilts, crochet work and food - with the community. As she grew older her friends and neighbors gave back to her equally for which she was grateful.
She is survived by her children, Phillip B. Sparr, John W. Sparr, Allen G. Sparr (and Rosemary) and Linda Sparr Sykes; her grandchildren, Jeffery Jensen (and Jennifer), Mary Sparr, Joshua Sparr, John Ryan Sparr, Jordan Sparr (and Ashley), JP Sparr, Alice Sykes, Jonathan DeVore (and Breia) and Kyle Devore (and Samantha); her great-grandchildren, Maddox Jensen, Averie Yearta (and Will), Connor Sparr, Jenna Brooke Sparr, Ashton DeVore, Kendall DeVore, Brooklyn DeVore, Levi DeVore, Kylee DeVore, Roman DeVore and Lucie DeVore.
She loved her church family as well as many other special family & friends, Alicia Solomon, Celeste Peterson, Jean Alford, Irene & Doug Canterberry, Mark & Debbie Kerns, Alan Reed, Rosemary Picklesimer, Dr Haddad and Karen Sparr. Family wishes express a heart felt appreciation to the staff of Casey County Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2:00PM on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. James “Jamie” Bryant officiating the services. Burial will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation 11:00AM to 2:00PM on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Josh Sparr, JP Sparr, Kyle DeVore, Jonathan DeVore, Jordan Sparr and John Ryan Sparr.
