Barbara Jean West

Barbara West, of Science Hill, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. She was 71.

Born on October 20, 1954, in Pulaski County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late William McKinley Sears and Juanita Meece Sears. She was a member of Skaggs Creek Baptist Church. Barbara was saved at a young age and loved the Lord with all her heart. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and helping others in need.

She is survived by her husband, Bro. Richard West of Science Hill; a son, Scott (and Lorie) West of Science Hill; two grandchildren, Kendall Lee (and Caitlin) Jones and Kolton Joseph Jones; and a brother, Rev. Dalous (and Mary Ann) Sears.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Charles Edward Sears; and a host of other family members.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 P.M. on Friday, January 23, 2026, at White Lily Cemetery, with Bro. Roger Owens officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. to 12:30 P.M. on Friday, January 23, 2026, at White Lily Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
