Wayne Payton, of Liberty, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2019, at Casey County Hospital. He was 62.
Born on January 1, 1957, in Garrett, Indiana, he was a son of the late Charles O. and Edith Handshoe Payton. Wayne worked for TG Kentucky, LLC. He was an avid auto racing fan, as well as a Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan. He also loved Stroh Fire Department in Stroh, Indiana, where he retired as an Incident Command Officer, and loved helping with the ambulance service.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle Wethington Payton, who he wed on September 5, 2015; a daughter, Kristi Marie (Loyd) Payton Dye of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; a son, Bradley Scott Payton of Tennessee; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Other survivors include four brothers, Robert Payton of Lincoln County; Keith (Regina) Payton of McKinney; Chuck (Kelly) Payton of Indiana and Timmy Payton of McKinney.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, August 5, 2019, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Wethington officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Monday, August 5, 2019, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Ricky George, Ken, Donald Clements, Bryan Payton, Ricky Dale Payton and Matthew Payton.
