Stephen Floyd Baker, of Kings Mountain, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. He was 54.
Born on March 31, 1964, in Wayne County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late George Joseph and Olive Floyd Baker. Steve was a mechanic and carpenter. He was a member of Valley Oak Baptist Church. Steve was a hardworking and generous man that liked to farm and spend time with his family. He operated The Muffler Shop in Liberty for years and later owned and operated Baker’s Garage in Yosemite.
He is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Stephen Henson) Baker of Yosemite; a son, Tyler (Sabrina McGowan) Baker of Kings Mountain; and two grandchildren, Hayden Henson and Rylan Baker. Other survivors include five sisters, Alice (Ronald) Lawless of Liberty, Barb (Ron) Bowyer of Somerset, Ann Kissee of Jbez, Retha Bryeans of Las Vegas, Nevada and Becky Walsh of Indiana; and two brothers, David Baker of Burnside and Ruel Floyd.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Reva Baker and Crystal Baker; and a brother, Tommy Baker.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Linville Hatter officiating. Burial will follow in Valley Oak Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
Steve’s pallbearers will be Charlie Buis, Larry Wilham, Doug Wahl, Russell Lawless, Junior Rayborn, Scotty Rayborn, Tyler Baker and Dennis Pence.
In lieu of flowers, contributions of sympathy may be made to the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
