Shelly Martin Obituary

Shelly Martin, of Stanford, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019, at Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, KY. She was 54.

Born January 28, 1964, in Stanford, KY, she was a daughter of Betty Ann Parrish Martin of Stanford and the late Earl Martin. Shelly was a hard-working factory worker that also worked with her son in his headstone business.  She loved her animals and even ran an animal rescue in her own home, often times having more than 60 cats at one time. Shelly was a friend to all and never met a stranger. She so dearly loved her grandchildren.

Shelly fought for over 12 years in her battle with cancer. She was so courageous and fierce in her efforts. It brings comfort to the Martin family to know she is suffering no more and is now “cancer free”.

Survivors include her son, Jimmy (and wife, Jenny) Maloy of Waynesburg; grandson, William Aidan Maloy: granddaughter, Brayli Ann Maloy; mother, Betty Ann Parrish Martin; brother, Ned Martin; sister, Melissa “Missy” Martin; and niece, Megan (and husband, Spencer) Longnecker.

Per Shelly’s wishes, graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, January 19, 2019, at the Berry Hollow Cemetery with Bro. Jerry Martin officiating with burial to follow. There will be no visitation.

The family of Shelly Martin encourages all to dress casually for her service on Saturday. Her family also wishes to express a sincere gratitude to the staff of the Jean Waddle Care Center for their exceptional care and compassion shown for Shelly and her family.

In memory of Shelly Martin, Memorial contributions are suggested to the Willow Creek Animal Sanctuary, PO Box 171, Danville, KY 40423.
